Big jaws huge body six legs a stag beetle! Stag beetles are amazing creatures. There is no insect quite like the stag beetle.
Stag beetles are the most interesting insect to see. One body part that the stag beetle is known for is its pincers or jaws, used for fighting for mates. Also stag beetles can be 1 ½ inches long to 4 inches long! Those were some of the unique body parts of stag beetle.
Stag beetles can live in many places as long as it has some wood. Stag beetles are found in forest gardens and wood chips. Stag beetles can live in lots places as long as they have some kind of wood. Mostly stag beetles are found in the south. Now that you know where they live maybe you can spot one.
Surely you would think the stag beetle has good protection but do they? Yes, stag beetles have great protection but their only enemy is another stag beetle. Stag beetles protect themselves with their jaws and use their shell as a shield. The stag beetle eats leaves, tree bark, and aphid honey dew, the larvae eat rotting wood. Now that you know how they survive maybe if you leave some of the foods that they eat one will show up.
Wonder how a stag beetle grows? Stag beetle’s lifecycle is called an incomplete lifecycle. Stag beetles lay eggs and hatch nymphs. The nymphs take about 1 or 2 years to turn into an adult. Now you know how stag beetles lifecycle is. You would what’s happening if you watched a stag beetle grow.
